Exciting news from the Uganda Wildlife Authority reveals that five additional gorilla families are now open for tracking across various sections of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This development follows the successful completion of a four-year habituation program. As a result, Uganda now offers 194 gorilla tracking permits daily, along with 4 permits for the gorilla habituation experience.
Simultaneously, the Uganda Wildlife Authority has announced fee adjustments set to take effect on July 1, 2024:
???? Gorilla permits (Bwindi and Mgahinga): $800 (previously $700)
???? Chimp permit (Kibale Forest): $250 (previously $200)
???? Chimp permit (Kyambura Gorge, Queen Elizabeth National Park): $100 (previously $50)
???? Chimp habituation permit (Kibale Forest): $300 (previously $250)
???? Why the price adjustments?
These changes reflect the increasing costs of conservation endeavors, including habitat preservation, anti-poaching measures, and community development initiatives. Notably, 20% of permit and park fees are reinvested into neighboring communities, making your clients’ primate encounters a meaningful contribution to local well-being.
