14 Days Kenya & Seychelles Family Holiday
After jetting into Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you are whisked to the family log cabin at Ngong House to wind down and settle into the rhythm of East Africa. Your private villa is the perfect combination of rustic simplicity and 5-star service; set among landscaped gardens in a tranquil enclave of Nairobi, it sets the scene for the rest of your holiday. Take afternoon tea on the cool verandah, splash off in the swimming pool and end the day with a nightcap in front of the roaring fire.
If your schedule allows it, visit the Giraffe Centre to learn more about endangered Rothschild’s giraffes – and feed them in a ticklish ‘giraffe kiss’! – and the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, where little ones are cared for in a safe sanctuary environment.
Days 2 – 5: The magic of the Masai Mara
Leave the hustle and bustle of Nairobi behind as you fly out to one of the most famous safari destinations of all: the Masai Mara. Your final destination is Topi Mara Bush House that borders the 23 000 acre Olare Orok conservancy, a private reserve with very low visitor and vehicle numbers.
For three blissful days, you will be cocooned in this very special part of Kenya, with a private guide, chef and butler to ensure a highly personalized experience. Topi is a secluded 3-bedroom farmhouse that offers ring-side seats to the Great Migration of thousands of wildebeest between July and October annually, with malaria-free Big 5 game viewing all year round. You have awe-inspiring views of the game-rich reserve and conservancy beyond so find a comfortable place to spend your afternoon watching giraffe and elephant wandering by, or stretch out on the rolling lawns with a book under the shade of an acacia tree.
To truly understand the intricacies of tracking and conservation, visit the Koiyaki Guiding School and learn about efforts to understand and preserve the region’s outstanding natural beauty.
Days 5 – 9: Try something different
Staying in Kenya, you head north to Ol Lentille, where you make yourself at home in the Chief’s House at The Sanctuary. With three double bedrooms (the main bedroom has an outdoor tub set among natural rock) and minimalist African design, Chief’s House is an ideal launch pad for all sorts of exciting bush activities. In the 25 000 acre Ol Lentille Conservancy, you can try your hand at quad biking (ATVs), archery, mountain biking, a horse- or camelback safari or even head out into a more remote area for fly camping.
Because you are here for four nights, you can truly take your time and immerse yourself in whatever you fancy. With no fixed schedule, your moods and whims can be indulged on game drives, bush walks and laidback afternoons under the African sun.
Days 9 – 14: An island idyll
Having made a thorough acquaintance with the African bush, it is now time to discover the splendors of the African beach. Leave the Masai Mara behind for five sun-soaked days in the Seychelles. Jet into Mahe Island for a 5-night stay at the action-packed Ephelia Resort.
Two white-sand beaches combine with warm azure waters and indigenous forests thrumming with birdlife to create a picture-perfect paradise. Your hilltop villa gives you uninterrupted ocean views and you can enjoy massages on the beach or in your room. Spend your days swimming, snorkeling and kayaking just meters from your front door, marveling at the healthy coral reef and thousands and thousands of brightly colored tropical fish swirl below you.
You can also hit the squash and tennis courts, try your hand at the rock-climbing wall or just unwind in the Shiseido Spa pavilion or the Spa de Constance. There are five different restaurants to choose from, each with specialist cuisines and designer interiors.
On the 14th day, it is time to return to Seychelles International Airport for your flight home.
This marks the end of what we hope will be an adventurous trip- Thank you very much!!
