Chimp Empire is set in Ngongo, Kibale Forest, western Uganda, a National Park that is famous for its chimpanzee population. Uganda’s Kibale National Park is home to the Ngogo community, the largest known group of chimpanzees in the world. Typically, chimps live in groups of approximately 50 to 60 members — the Ngogo chimps had about 120 chimps living together before splitting into two hostile factions. Fun fact-Chimpanzees and humans share almost 98% of the same DNA.
Chimp Empire reveals the emotions, relationships, conflict, and power struggles that are at play deep in this Ugandan forest.
The four-part documentary is directed by Academy Award winner James Reed and narrated by Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali.
